A Sweet Briar College Music Lecture will explore the work of Virginia composer John Powell on Wednesday, Oct. 13 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. in Memorial Chapel. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Charlotte Formichella '06 will present the findings of her Summer Honors Research Fellowship on Powell, who was well known in the early 20th century for his creative music and later for his radical political ideas.

After the presentation, pianist Nicholas Ross, SBC assistant professor of music, will perform two of Powell's most famous piano suites.
