Sweet Briar field hockey fell 7-0 to visiting Lynchburg College Thursday. The win puts Lynchburg at the 1-0 mark in the conference, while Sweet Briar drops to 0-2.

Lynchburg put three quick goals on the board halfway through the first half as Laura Christianson recorded a hat trick. The Hornets added another tally for the 4-0 lead at the break and followed with three in the second to take the game. Christianson’s three goals led Lynchburg offensively. Samantha Howard led her team with two assists.

Vixen goalie Cat Cox ’08 (Prince Frederick, MD/Calverton) stayed busy in the cage. She finished with 27 saves.

Sweet Briar takes a break from conference action this weekend. The Vixens travel to Wilson College for games on Saturday and Sunday.
