Byrd/Edahl Take First in Doubles at Virginia Women's College Tennis Championship
Sweet Briar’s doubles team of Caroline Byrd ’08 and Virginia Edahl ’10 defeated Mary Baldwin’s Nicole Koiner and Caitlin Crowe in the final match of Flight A doubles Sunday to take home first-place honors at the Virginia Women’s College Tennis Championship. The pair defeated Hollins’ Barrett Jones and Candice Dalton to reach the finals.

Two Vixens came away with second-place honors in singles. Cheryl Seaver ’09 lost in the final match of her flight to Hollins’ sophomore Christine Han. First-year Michayla Bonds defeated two opponents from Hollins before falling in the finals of her flight..

Byrd and Michelle Raymond both took home third place in singles. Byrd defeated doubles teammate Edahl 6-4, 6-3 while Raymond fought for a 6-7(4), 6-4, (10-2) win over Kimmie Lockett of Hollins.

Off 14 match wins in the Championship this weekend, Sweet Briar travels to Meredith College next Saturday and Sunday for the Meredith Invitational Tournament.
