CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Sweet Briar field hockey took the third-place game Sunday, picking up the Vixen's first win of the season at the Women’s College Invitational at Wilson College. The Vixens downed Mary Baldwin College 4-0 in the match to improve their record to 1-3 on the season.
Junior forward Megan Manubay (Bear, DE/Caravel) had a hat trick in the game for Sweet Briar. First-years Justine Diamond (Cochranville, PA/Avon Grove) and Molly McGonegle (Virginia Beach, VA/Floyd Kellam) each had one assist.
On the defensive end, Sweet Briar gave up zero corners to Mary Baldwin, while the Vixen offense was award 31. Junior goalies Cat Cox (Prince Frederick, MD/Calverton) and Alex DiFeliceantonio (Wilmington, NC/Amy Bradley) split time in the cage, stopping one shot in the shutout win.
“We played good offensively today, like we should have played yesterday,” said coach Jennifer Crispen in reference to her team’s improvement over its first game of the Invitational.
Sweet Briar’s next competition is this Friday at home against Bridgewater College. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
