Sweet Briar volleyball fell in three tight matches Wednesday as visiting Eastern Mennonite University took the match 3-0 (30-26, 30-21, 30-28) in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action.

The Vixens fought back in the closely contested game three, pulling ahead by one at the 26-25 mark. After a big side out for point 28, Sweet Briar’s Katie McIntyre (Lynchburg, VA/E.C. Glass) served to bring the match to game point. Eastern Mennonite, however, came up with a big side out of its own and served for the 30th and final point, taking the third match 30-28.

First-year Lindsay Sankoff (Charleston, WV/Capital) lead the Vixen attack with six kills. Teammate Rebecca Martin (Charleston, WV/Capital) finished with eight of Sweet Briar’s 16 assists. On the defensive side of the ball, McIntyre led with 11 digs.

Sweet Briar travels to Salem College on Saturday for a tri-match with Salem and Shenandoah. The first match gets underway at 1 p.m.
