NORFOLK – Megan Manubay '08 (Bear, DE/Caravel) scored for Sweet Briar as the Vixens fell 6-1 on the road at Virginia Wesleyan College Saturday. Manubay’s goal came off a pass across the circle from Melissa Carron '10(Grosse Pointe, MI/Grosse Pointe North) with 34 seconds remaining in the first half.
Vixen goalie Cat Cox ’08 (Prince Frederick, MD/Calverton) stopped 21 shots in the game. Sara Sheppard '10 (Virginia Beach, VA/Floyd Kellam) had 2 defensive saves in the game. Megan Behrle '09 (Manassas, VA/Stonewall Jackson) and Sarah Goldstein '09 (Richmond, VA/Trinity Episcopal) also picked up a defensive save.
“Today was a pretty good demonstration of the formation and strategy we have been working towards and one of the first times the team has put together the kind of game we have asked for,” said coach Jennifer Crispen after the game.
The Vixens travel to Randolph-Macon Woman’s College on Tuesday to defend the Hill City Cup. Their defense begins at 4:30 p.m.
