Three wins in doubles helped Bridgewater College defeat Sweet Briar 6-3, Monday, in an ODAC match. The Vixens, playing without the services of #1 Torrey Shallcross because of illness, picked up victories at #1, #4 and #5 singles as three seniors won their matches. Brentz Basten (Lynchburg, VA/Jefferson Forest) and Laura Denson (Houston, TX/Episcopal) both fought back from first set losses to win in tiebreakers. Sue Knouse (Washington,DC/Fort Worth CDS) won her fifth straight singles match, defeating Brittany Van Wickler in straight sets.

“With our #1 out, we had to move everyone up a seeding. I thought everyone played well and our seniors really stepped it up,” said coach Morrison.

The Vixens play their last home match of the season Wednesday against Hollins University at 4:30 p.m.
