Sweet Briar, VA—Strength in singles made the difference as Randolph-Macon nipped Sweet Briar 5-4 in an ODAC tennis match today. With the score tied at 4-4, Annika Heinen took a two-setter from Laura Denson '05 (Houston Texas/Episcopal) at #4 singles to cement the win for the Yellowjackets. SBC coach Kelly Morrison said, "I was happy with the energy level in doubles and the way our teams played. We were 2-1 out of doubles, but today in singles, Randolph-Macon was a little stronger at the top of the line up."
Senior Sue Knouse (Washington, DC/Fort Worth CDS) recorded her third double-double of the season, taking her #5 singles 6-2, 6-3 and her doubles 8-6 with partner Haley Graham '06 (Virginia Beach, VA/Ocean Lakes HS).
The Vixens are 2-5 overall, and 2-3 in the ODAC. They host Lynchburg College on Sunday at 1 pm.
