Sweet Briar College lacrosse held Guilford to three goals, Thursday, defeating the Quakers 14-3 in an ODAC match. The win gives the Vixens three in a row and improves their season record to 8-3.
Five different Vixens put goals on the board in the first half, as Sweet Briar’s defense gave up just one goal. First-year Ellie Donahue (Richmond,VA/Trinity Episcopal) led the way with five goals and two assists. Bethany
Bressan ‘08(Charlottesville, VA/St. Anne’s Belfield) picked up three goals and three assists.
Sweet Briar keeper Emily Fitzpatrick ’07 (Virginia Beach, VA/Norfolk Academy) stopped 14 of 22 shots in the game. Guilford freshman Mary Hutchins scored all three goals for the Quakers.
“I thought we were more aggressive, which helped us control the tempo of the game. Our defense did a great job and gave us a lot of options,” said head coach Missy Ackerman.
Sweet Briar is home again Saturday against Washington and Lee at 2 p.m.
