Sweet Briar tennis battled the wind, Sunday, to pick up their second conference win of the spring, defeating Guilford College 7-2. Seniors Brentz Basten (Lynchburg, VA/Jefferson Forrest) and Torrey Shallcross (Alpharetta, GA/Milton) picked up the 8-1 win over Bridget Boyd and Krystal Parrish in #1 doubles and the team of Sue Knouse (Washington, DC/Fort Worth CDS) and Haley Graham (Virginia Beach, VA/Ocean Lakes) defeated Joan Kietzman and Amy Morrison 8-3 in #3, to give the Vixens the 2-1. The winning continued in singles, with the Vixens taking five of six matches.
“Now that we have some matches under our belts, we have momentum. I think the girls played really well today,” said coach Morrison after the win.
