Harrisonburg, VA—Rebounding from two losses in doubles, the Sweet Briar tennis team came back to take four singles matches and defeat Eastern Mennonite University 5-3 in a rain-shortened ODAC contest today. Brentz Basten '05 (Lynchburg, VA/Jefferson Forest HS) and Caroline Byrd '08 (Virginia Beach, VA/Norfolk Academy) both took two setters at #2 and #3. Senior Laura Denson (Houston, TX/Episcopal HS) played one of her classic three setters at #4, winning in a third set tie-breaker 10-4. Coach Kelly Morrison said, "We needed more match play. Today we got it and the girls really played well."

Sweet Briar is 2-1 in the ODAC and 2-3 overall. They host Guilford on Sunday at 11 am.
