Sweet Briar softball suffered it’s first loss of the season, Thursday, losing a doubleheader at Randolph-Macon Woman’s College 12-4 and 9-0. With the losses, the Vixens are 4-2 on the season.
Sophomore Lynnsey Kraus (Sugarland, TX/Clements) went 2-4 in Game 1, knocking in two of Sweet Briar’s four runs. Mary Beth Wolf ’08 (Amherst, VA/Amherst) and Melanie Stine ’06 (Amherst, VA/Amherst) each picked up one RBI.
Defensive play hurt the Vixens, as eight of the Wildcats’ 12 runs were unearned. Pitcher Lindsey Nash ’05 (Amherst, VA/Amherst) gave up eight hits and struck out two in the loss. In Game 2, the Sweet Briar offense failed to pick up a hit against Wildcats pitcher Dani Hansen.
Sweet Briar defeated Randolph-Macon Woman's College in February to pick up the program's first wins. The Vixens look to get back in the win column April 9, when they host Shenandoah University at 1 p.m.
