The Sweet Briar Promise outlines our distinctive approach for providing meaningful, enduring education for women. It includes:
SALEM, Va. — In the 2005 Virginia Women's Intercollegiate Fencing Championships, the Vixens finished 3rd overall, taking a team third place in sabre, third in epee, and fifth in foil. Final team rankings were Virginia Tech (80), Hollins (61), Sweet Briar (59), University of Virginia (56), Mary Baldwin (53) and James Madison (50).
Individually, Liz Churchill '05 (Chevy Chase, MD) took 8th place in foil, Sarah O'Donnell '05 (Chapel Hill, NC) was 8th in epee, and Charlotte Spielman '06 (Amherst, VA) and Shawna Harris '07 (Windsor, VA) finished 7th and 8th in sabre.
Coach Chris Beazley finished his first year 3-2 in dual competition, and the Vixens finished in the top three overall for the twelfth time in 15 years of state competition.
