First-years Nicole Snyder (Manassas, VA/Osbourn) and Brittany Carlton (Warrenton, VA/Highland School) have been named to the 2004-05 All-ODAC Swim Team. Swimmers were selected to the team based on their times at the ODAC/Atlantic States Championships meet Feb. 20.
Snyder made the team in four events – 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle, 1650 freestyle, and 200 butterfly. She also swam the fastest 1000 freestyle in the conference this season (11:04.53).
Snyder set two school records (1000 and 1650 freestyle) in one event at the meet, winning the 1650 freestyle (18:23.07) and finishing second in the 500 freestyle and 200 butterfly.
Carlton was named to the team in the 200 individual medley and the 400 individual medley, after placing fifth and third, respectively at the meet.
“I’ve known both Nicole and Brittany since before they were teenagers,” said head coach Jason Gallaher. “They mean a great deal to the swim team and to me as a swim coach.”
Some ODAC post-season awards were handed out at the conference meet. Conference coaches named Snyder Co-Rookie of the Year with Sarah Swann of Randolph-Macon. Gallaher was named 2004-05 Coach of the Year for leading Sweet Briar to a 2-2 conference record and fourth-place finish at the meet.
