In the first dual fencing meet of the season, the Vixens defeated visiting Hollins University 6-3 in sabre, with all three SBC fencers scoring 2-1 in individual bouts. Jess Price '05 (Earlysville, VA), Liz Churchill '05 (Chevy Chase, MD) and Shawna Harris '07 (Windsor, VA) scored touches in each of their three bouts.

Hollins took the epee competition 6-3. Senior Sarah O'Donnell (Chapel Hill, NC) defeated two opponents and first year Luna Dellaporte (Penndel, PA) was 1-1. Both Robin Parkinson '05 (Robesonia, PA) and Megan Maloney '08 (Asheville, NC) fenced well and pointed in both their bouts.

Despite some solid fencing in foil, Hollins won 8-1 to take the overall match 17-10. Churchill notched a good win 5-2, and lost a close bout 3-5. Also fencing for the Vixens were Price and Diane Lotz '05 (Haymarket, VA).
