SWEET BRIAR, Va. The Sweet Briar College softball team continued its win streak Sunday, defeating Salem College 16-3 and 19-3, both in 4 1/2 innings. With the wins, Sweet Briar is now 4-0 on the season.
In the opening game, the Vixens batted around in the third inning, with all nine batters crossing the plate. Meagan Chenault '07 (Amherst, VA/Amherst County) went 2-4, scoring one run and picking up two RBI. Melissa Westhouse '06 (Dorris, CA/Butte Valley) led the Vixens with 5 RBI. Lindsey Nash '05 (Amherst, VA/Amherst County) picked up her second win of the season,
going 4 1/2 innings.
Sweet Briar kept the offense going in game 2. Pitcher Beth Anderson '08 (Richmond, VA/Mills Godwin) went 4-5 with four RBI and 3 runs scored. Anderson also got the win in the game, striking out four. She allowed two hits in 4 1/2
innings.
The Vixens look to continue the streak when they face Southern Virginia Tuesday at home at 5 p.m.
