Lacrosse Comes Back to Pick Up First Win
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. Senior Karah Strawley (Charlottesville, VA/Covenant) scored with one minute to play, giving Sweet Briar the 6-5 win over Christopher Newport University Sunday. With the win, the Vixens improve to 1-2 on the season.

Sweet Briar found itself down 3-5 with four minutes left to play, when junior Julie Sellers (Virginia Beach, VA/Norfolk Academy) scored to tie the game. Strawley followed with a goal to give the Vixens their first win of the season.

Goalie Emily Fitzpatrick '07 (Virginia Beach, VA/Norfolk Academy) and the rest of defense gave very strong performances, causing the Lady Captains to take
hurried shots.

"It was a very gutsy performance from everybody after having played a tough game the day before," said head coach Missy Ackerman.

Sweet Briar returns home to face Guilford College Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
