Lacrosse Opens Season With #15 Mary Washington
Sweet Briar College lacrosse opened its season Wednesday with a 14-5 home loss at the hands of the #15 ranked University of Mary Washington Eagles.

The Eagles were up at the half 8-3, led by two goals each from Jamie Rostan, Jackie Rose and Meaghan O'Leary. Lisa Mollica '06 (Lexington, VA/Rockbridge),

Bethany Bressan '08(Charlottesville, VA/St. Anne's Belfield) and Ellie Donahue '08(Richmond, VA/Trinity Episcopal) each scored in the half for the Vixens.

Mary Washington added four goals in the second half before Julie Sellers '06 (Virginia Beach, VA/Norfolk Academy) scored to get Sweet Briar back on the board. Sellers would add another goal before the final whistle.

Sophomore goalie Emily Fitzpatrick (Virginia Beach, VA/Norfolk Academy)stopped 14 shots for the Vixens.

Sweet Briar is back in action this weekend, as they open ODAC play Saturday at Virginia Wesleyan.
