Sweet Briar field hockey lost 3-0 Wednesday evening at Washington and Lee despite playing one of their best games of the season. The game remained scoreless for the first 25 minutes until Jane Beall scored the first of her two goals for the Generals. Kay Dyt finished up Washington and Lee's scoring with just over seven minutes to play.
Several Vixens played especially well in the game, most notably Paula Kirkland (Glen Allen, VA/St. Gertrudes), whose move to defense has made a huge impact on the team.
Washington and Lee tested the Vixens' defense often, out shooting Sweet Briar for the game. Goalkeeper Jenn Wiley stopped 15 of the Generals' shots.
Coach Jennifer Crispen said, ?This was a tough opponent on an away field and we are pleased to see the team develop.? Sweet Briar returns home for Families' Weekend. They face Sewanee Saturday at 2 p.m.
