Sweet Briar College soccer lost at home Tuesday 3-1 to Washington and Lee. The Vixens scored first,in the 2nd minute,on a goal by Kylie Izzi ?08 (Bainsbridge Island,WA/Bainsbridge) off a pass from Whitney Shaffer ?08 (Norfolk, VA/Maury) on a free kick. Sweet Briar was then forced to play defense most of the game, but held the Generals to three goals. Kelly Zagol scored for Washington and Lee in the 22nd minute and Anne Wiltshire put one more in the goal just before halftime. Zagol scored her second goal of the game in the 54th minute. Washington and Lee out shot Sweet Briar in the game. Abby Brown ?08 (Copper Canyon, TX/Marcus) had another solid performance in the Vixen goal with 13 saves. With the loss Sweet Briar falls to 2-6 in the conference. Washington and Lee improves to 7-1-1. The Vixens are home Saturday against Columbia College at 1 p.m. as part of Families' Weekend at Sweet Briar.
