The Vixens of Sweet Briar College defeated Bryn Mawr College 3-1 Monday in a non-conference match. With the win, Sweet Briar improves to 6-7 on the season. Beth Farnsworth '05 (Grafton, MA/Grafton) got the Vixens on the board on a pass from Ginger Tripp '05 (Richmond, VA/St. Catherines) nine minutes into the game. Farnsworth added another goal before halftime. Freshman Rhandi Kline (Hampton, VA/Hampton), in her first start at forward, scored her first goal of the season minutes into the second half. Sweet Briar gave up one goal midway through the half on a shot from Amy Johnson, but held on for the win. Paula Kirkland '06 (Glen Allen,VA/St. Gertrudes) had another solid game in defense. Ellie Donahue '08 (Richmond, VA/Trinity Episcopal), Tripp, Sue Knouse '05 (Washington, DC/Fort Worth CDS), and Jenn Wiley '06 (Williamsburg, VA/Jamestown) had series of steady play. ?We tried a new lineup that gave us more speed and because of that we were able to dictate the pace of the game,? said coach Jennifer Crispen. Sweet Briar is back on the road Wednesday at Washington and Lee. They face the Generals at 6:30 p.m.
