Paula Kirkland's '06 (Glen Allen, VA/St. Gertrudes) goal 12 seconds into overtime gave Sweet Briar a 2-1 victory against Worcester Polytechnic Institute Friday. Julie Drake '06 (San Jose, CA/Willow Glen) assisted on the goal. Sweet Briar was on the defensive side most of the game but put one goal on the board in regulation when Drake put the ball past the keeper on a pass from Leha Andres '08 (Charlestown, RI/Valley). ?I think they underestimated us and I think we played very, very well. I was particularly pleased with goalkeeping play and play in deep defense,? said coach Jennifer Crispen after the game. The Vixens are in Massachusetts for another on Saturday. They face Nichols College at 11 a.m.
