The Sweet Briar field hockey team lost 2-0 Saturday to Nichols College to conclude their trip to Massachusetts. The Vixens beat Worcester Polytechnic Institute 2-1 yesterday in overtime. Nichols out shot Sweet Briar 15-13 in a relatively even game. Stephanie Mangni and Lauren Maxwell each scored in the first half for Nichols. Jenn Wiley '06 (Williamsburg, VA/Jamestown) and Megan Manubay '08 (Bear, DE/Caravel) split time in the net. Wiley picked up four saves and Manubay three for the game. ?We got an absolutely fantastic game from Paula Kirkland '07 (Glen Allen, VA/St. Gertrudes). She has added enormous steadiness to the defense,? said coach Jennifer Crispen. ?Overall, today was a good experience because we needed to make an offensive adjustment and we were successful doing it.? The Vixens return home to face Randolph-Macon College Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
