This month’s Janet Lowrey Gager Community concert at Sweet Briar will star flutist and poet Wayla Chambo, percussionist Peter Soroka and pianist and Sweet Briar College orchestra director Joshua Harris. The concert takes place at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 22.
After living and breathing dance for the past four years, three Sweet Briar seniors will share the results of their hard work in a joint concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, and Saturday, Feb. 21, in the Upper Dance Studio in the Babcock Fine Arts Center.
Sweet Briar College will hold its annual Vespers service at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, in Memorial Chapel, preceded by a Holiday Pops Concert at 6 p.m. in the chapel. Both are open to the public and admission is free.
Lynnette Overby, a professor of theater and dance at the University of Delaware, will present a talk about her multidisciplinary work “Dave the Potter” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, in Pannell Gallery. Her lecture is free and open to the public.
Three theater majors will stage their senior projects at Sweet Briar this semester, beginning with “The Sneeze” on Nov. 7 and 8, followed by “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow Is Enuf” on Nov. 8 and 9, and “The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds” Dec. 5 and 6.
