Husband and wife team Claudia Chang and Perry Tourtellotte, archaeologists and members of the Sweet Briar College community, were honored recently for their work in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Chang, a professor of anthropology, and Tourtellotte, an independent archaeologist, were each presented two medals on July 1.
Archaeologist Jodi Barnes will be at Sweet Briar College on Wednesday, March 19 to speak about her field work in Amherst County. The illustrated lecture, “From Farms to Forests: The Archaeology of an Appalachian Landscape,” will be held at 4:30 p.m. in Benedict Hall, Room 100.

In October, Sweet Briar College will offer two events in celebration of Virginia Archaeology Month, an annual celebration coordinated by the Virginia Department of Historic Resources.
