Over the coming year, a grouping of Soviet propaganda posters in Sweet Briar College’s permanent collection will be brought from the obscurity of storage into the light where scholars, students and art patrons can learn from and enjoy them.
Sweet Briar students and other fans of Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Jane Smiley glimpsed the spirit of a writer yesterday evening in the College’s Memorial Chapel — along with sneak previews of not one but two of her forthcoming novels.
Martha Woodroof will be on campus Oct. 9 for a reading and book signing — one of a dozen upcoming events that include lectures, musical performances, arts shows, a 19th-century cooking demonstration, and the ever-popular annual Cardboard Boat Regatta brought to you by the students of ENG 110 — Designing Our World.
The Sweet Briar Art Galleries will open three exhibitions this month, kicking off with a reception for “Exploring the Visual Experience” from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, in the Pannell Gallery. The show will remain on view through Dec. 12.
