Sweet Briar College is announcing the Phillip C. Stone Legacy Challenge to honor the president’s leadership over the last two years. The group has pledged a total of $5 million and is now challenging fellow supporters to match that amount.
For 25 consecutive year, a high-achieving Sweet Briar College student has received the Sweet Briar College Presidential Medal. On March 29, 2017, President Phillip C. Stone awarded the medal to senior Jessie Schuster.
Pannell Scholar Shelby Benny ’19 knows that history is best studied — and experienced — right where it happened. So in March, the sophomore from Dothan, Ala., boarded a plane to Germany to complete a big chunk of her research on “The Origins of WWII: Exploration into a City of Revolution and Rebellion.”
Sweet Briar’s president, Phillip C. Stone, is sponsoring a special performance of “Marie Curie: A Staged Song Cycle” at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 1, in the College’s Memorial Chapel.
Sweet Briar’s final Gager Concert of the semester will feature four Beethoven piano sonatas performed by Lexington-based pianist, composer, organist and teacher Jonathan Cook.
