When you first arrive on campus, you will participate in an orientation program for all international students as well as one for all new Sweet Briar students. You will receive a packet that includes information and the dates for the International Student Orientation. During the orientation program, you will have the opportunity to meet key officials on campus. We also will help you open a bank account, obtain a social security card, and take care of other important tasks.
The general Sweet Briar College Orientation Program begins on the Saturday following the International Student Orientation. During this second orientation period, you will consult with your faculty adviser to plan your academic program, learn how to find everything on campus, become acquainted with your roommate, and meet other students — American and international — who, like you, will be attending Sweet Briar College for the first time. More information about the orientation programs will be sent in separate mailings.
Both orientation sessions are mandatory for international students.
