The Virginia Space Grant Consortium (VSGC) offers a statewide industry internship initiative titled the Commonwealth STEM Industry Internship Program (CSIIP). This program is funded by the Commonwealth of Virginia and implemented and managed by VSGC. CSIIP is designed to enhance Virginia’s future professional STEM workforce and to keep STEM talent locally here in Virginia.
CSIIP collaborates with all accredited universities, colleges and community colleges in Virginia. Companies post their summer 2013 paid internship opportunities and students submit their applications using a centralized Web-based system (csiip.spacegrant.org). CSIIP provides a link to all company websites, so students will have access to each participating company’s profile.
CSIIP has strong support from, and partnership with, the Virginia Governor’s Office, Virginia’s Center for Innovative Technology, the Virginia Manufacturers’ Association, the Virginia State Chamber of Commerce, Virginia’s Society for Human Resource Management, the State Council of Higher Education and all 10 of Virginia’s regional technology councils.
The opening of the CSIIP student application process was Nov. 1, 2012, and ended Jan. 31, 2013. Check out their Facebook page for the latest CSIIP events and highlights.
