Alumnae-Student Relations

Who are we?

The Student Relations Committee is a small group of students who work towards enhancing communication and interaction between the alumnae and current students. It was for this purpose, to further the unity of these two vital bodies of the Sweet Briar community, that the Committee was founded. In an effort to introduce alumnae to the student body, the Student Relations Committee, or SRC, publicize the “Spotlight on an Alumna” column in the Sweet Briar Voice. The SRC was also formed to evaluate programs sponsored by the Alumnae Association based on the feedback they receive from students, which provides the Association with the valuable information needed concerning its programming and interaction with the student body. The SRC meets twice a month as a committee, twice a year with the Alumnae Board and intermittently with visiting alumnae in the event of special occasions. These venues provide increased student involvement with the Alumnae Association. Together they eagerly plan events throughout the year, such as Homecoming Weekend, and are always looking for new input and participation.

What We Do

The Student Relations Committee is a small group of students who work to enhance communication and interaction between the alumnae and current students. It was for the purpose of uniting these two vital bodies of the Sweet Briar community that the Committee was founded. The SRC meets twice a month as a committee, twice a year with the SBC Alumnae Board, and intermittently with visiting alumnae during special occasions. These venues familiarize students with SBC's Alumnae Association. The Alumnae Association and SRC plan events throughout the year that are open to the entire student body and alumnae.

Sweet Briar Days

by Amber Lubeck ’09
In 1922, The Alumnae Association began the tradition of Sweet Briar Days. Sweet Briar Days provide a fun opportunity for current and prospective students to network with Alumnae, meet new people, and renew old friendships. These events occur each year during the holiday season and range from an afternoon tea or a cocktail reception to dinners and wine tasting. Students are encouraged to attend their local Sweet Briar Day to continue this unique tradition and to catch up with fellow students and alumnae.
