Banner Self ServiceBanner Self Service is a password-protected and secure web site for alumnae of Sweet Briar College. Among other features, it has an online alumnae directory, called Find a Classmate. Using your Username and Password, you will be able to log in at any time to update your personal information or search for contact information on alumnae friends. The newest feature of Banner Self Service is the ability to pull alumnae lists and spreadsheets by state, region, club area, class, major and occupation!

How do I pull an alumnae list or spreadsheet? How do I log in?The Alumnae Association home page has a link to Banner Self Service. When you first go to the site, you should choose "Change my Password and Login Information". Enter your Username and Password, which has been mailed to you in a letter from the Alumnae Association. (If you did not receive or have misplaced the letter, contact the Alumnae Office.) On the "Change Password and Login Information" page, you will be asked to create a new password and to provide a password hint in the form of a "secret" question and answer. If later you should lose or forget your password, this question/answer will be used to help you obtain access to the online directory. You may change your password at any time at this login page. Your username, however, will not change. Click at right of the screen if you need help creating your password or secret question/answer. After you have successfully changed your password, choose "Click here to proceed to Banner Self Service." There you will be asked to enter your Username and your newly created password.Once in the Banner Self Service system, you will have several options. The Personal Information link allows you to view the information we have on file for you. Under Alumnae Services, then "Communications," choose Find a Classmate to access the online directory and search for information on other alumnae. Both Personal Information and Alumnae Services give you the chance to submit a change form to update your name, address, telephone, e-mail and job information. Your changes will be processed by the Alumnae Office within two weeks. Both options also allow you to see and update your Directory Profile. What is my Directory Profile?This is the information that is shown when an alumna looks you up in the online directory, Find a Classmate. Your Directory Profile includes your name, year of graduation, major, home and business address, telephone numbers, and your preferred email address that you have supplied the College. You have the opportunity to update this information or remove it from view by other users. How can I remove my information from view?Initially, all information in your Directory Profile is displayed. However, the Sweet Briar College Alumnae Association has made every effort to provide you with the flexibility to share as much or as little information as you wish. The information you provide is kept for the College's records and is not shared with anyone except users of Sweet Briar College's Alumnae Association Online Services. At your discretion, you may immediately remove selected information from the online directory. Simply remove the checkmark from the boxes marked "Display in Directory" located on your Online Directory Profile page. If an alumna searches for your record, any information you chose to exclude is not viewable. If you make a mistake or change your mind about removing any information from view, just recheck the box. The changes you make in the "Display in Directory" boxes take place immediately. Can I change my name, home, business address, or other information?Yes. You can update all contact information using the link on the "Alumnae Services" page. Enter the correct information in the fields. When you have made any necessary changes or additions to your profile click "Submit". Note: Your changes should appear in the online directory in two weeks. Use your browser's "Back" button to return to the Banner Self Service screens. How can I find and use the Online Directory?Under Alumnae Services, choose "Communications," then Find a Classmate to access the online directory. By following the instructions on the screen, you can look up either an individual or a group of alumnae by class range. Both the wildcard search character (%) and the Soundex Name Search are helpful when you are unsure of a name or spelling. Who has access to the Online Directory?Alumnae of Sweet Briar College, verified against the College's records by name, class year, and identification number, will receive access to the directory. Others outside the Sweet Briar College community will be denied access. How secure is my information?The Sweet Briar College Alumnae Association has taken every effort to ensure that individual privacy is protected. The site is technologically secure and password-protected, and it is intended strictly for the purpose of personal interaction between alumnae and the College. Will alumnae who abuse the online community be penalized?Yes. Abusers of the directory will be removed from the online community. Any unauthorized use including, but not limited to, use for any solicitation or commercial purposes is strictly prohibited. What if I lose or forget my username or password?Your username has been assigned by the College and has been sent to you in a letter from the Alumnae Office. Typically your username is your maiden last name and the last two digits of your class year (i.e. jones54). If more than one person in your class has the same maiden last name, the username of the second person (alphabetically) will be preceded by the first letter of the first name (i.e. Ann Jones '54 will be jones54, while Barbara Jones '54 will be bjones54). If this process does not allow you to enter the system, please contact the Alumnae Office to verify your username. Your original password has been assigned by the College and was sent to you along with your username. If you no longer have the letter with your username and password, you will have to contact the Alumnae Office to have them reset your password. If you have already entered the system and set a new password, "secret" question and answer, you should be able to enter the system by clicking on "I have forgotten my password." If you are able to correctly answer the "secret" question, you should be able to set a new password and enter the system. If you are not successful, you can contact the Alumnae Office and have them reset your password. How do I pull an alumnae list or spreadsheet?Under Alumnae Services, choose Reports for Alumnae. Under "Reports," click on your choice of "Listing" or "Spreadsheet version." Be patient, as it takes a few seconds for the next screen to appear. Here you may choose to pull a list by state, region, club area, class, occupation or major (combinations are not allowed). Lists may be sorted by current last name, maiden last name, class, or city. After choosing the list and sort options, click at top of screen on "Submit Query" button. Your list/spreadsheet will appear shortly in a new browser window and can be viewed on the screen, saved to your computer, or printed on any printer.
