Sweet Briar Families — Your SBC

Sweet Briar is rich in traditions and history. Just as the College encourages student engagement at all levels, we also welcome families to have their own “Sweet Briar Experience.” Each year, parents give their time, energy and resources, significantly impacting the entire Sweet Briar community.

Sweet Briar College began as an enduring gift from Indiana Fletcher Williams in honor of her daughter, Daisy, and the strong tradition of parent giving continues. The Parent Steering Committee is a volunteer organization that promotes parent involvement in the College through financial support, networking with fellow parents, and a collective voice to promote the College’s mission. The Parent Steering Committee is vital to Sweet Briar, and every student benefits from the stewardship and generosity of this special group of parents.

Parent Steering Committee

Parents of current students serving on the Parent Steering Committee receive helpful training to be ambassadors for Sweet Briar. They learn how to welcome and serve as a resource for incoming and returning families, how to further engage with the College, and how to make their philanthropic gifts of time, talent and financial support go to work for all Sweet Briar students.
