Sweet Briar Families — Your SBC
Like you, our focus is making our daughters’ Sweet Briar experience as meaningful as possible. Like you, we clearly see the value in a Sweet Briar education. President Parker relayed the value so well in a recent letter:
“Sweet Briar, cherishing the liberal arts tradition as it does, believes that the undergraduate years are a time for building a broad understanding across the major fields of human knowledge while at the same time digging deeply into one or two passionately-interesting subjects. Sweet Briar knows that close and supportive working relationships with faculty members develop judgment, analytic abilities, communication skills, and a sense of intellectual curiosity and wonder in students, qualities which not only equip graduates for professional success but also define what kind of professionals and citizens they will become. We believe that life outside the classroom — on the athletic fields, in student organizations, in campus employment, among friends — develops traits of character, integrity, responsibility and self-direction that are fundamental to living a good and examined life. And, at Sweet Briar, we believe that an environment in which women students are at the center of everything we do intensifies every one of these benefits.”
Like you, we know tuition is a considerable commitment, and so it is with a very thoughtful appeal that we ask you to join us with your best gift in support of your student and every student at Sweet Briar.
Our participation in the Annual Giving campaign directly impacts the exceptional programming and experience made available to these remarkable young women. Your gift will be put to immediate use in classrooms, student scholarships, athletic fields, labs, academic competitions, career counseling and internship opportunities, and so much more!
Thank you for considering your best gift and for your support of the students and Sweet Briar.

Parent Steering Committee
Sweet Briar is rich in traditions and history. Just as the College encourages student engagement at all levels, we also welcome families to have their own “Sweet Briar Experience.” Each year, parents give their time, energy and resources, significantly impacting the entire Sweet Briar community.
Sweet Briar College began as an enduring gift from Indiana Fletcher Williams in honor of her daughter, Daisy, and the strong tradition of parent giving continues. The Parent Steering Committee is a volunteer organization that promotes parent involvement in the College through financial support, networking with fellow parents and a collective voice to promote the College's mission.
The Parent Steering Committee is vital to Sweet Briar, and every student benefits from the stewardship and generosity of this special group of parents.
Parents of current students serving on the Parent Steering Committee receive helpful training to be ambassadors for Sweet Briar. They learn how to welcome and serve as a resource for incoming and returning families, how to further engage with the College, and how to make their philanthropic gifts of time, talent and financial support go to work for all Sweet Briar students.
