Hometown: Hillsville, VA

Recruitment Areas: Lynchburg area, Roanoke area, Lower Shenandoah Valley of Virginia

Additional/Special Recruitment Responsibilities: I work with the Office of Financial Aid to coordinate the Early Estimator process. The Early Estimator is a great tool for high school seniors. During the fall semester of a student's senior year, we process Early Estimators to help our families find out what the cost of Sweet Briar will be for their particular situation. All high school seniors' parents on our system will be mailed the Early Estimator in September.

Educational Background: I graduated in 1998 from Sweet Briar with a double major in Psychology and Religion, and a Business Management Certificate. In 2003, I received my M.B.A. from Lynchburg College.

A Few Thoughts on Sweet Briar: Two words come to my mind when I think of Sweet Briar College-community and opportunities. The College encompasses this wonderful feeling of community, especially since the majority of our students are not from Virginia and they represent more than 40 states and 15 countries. SBC is a gathering place of kindred spirits along a journey experiencing intellectual opportunities and self-growth. The College is also what I like to describe as the "yes" place. This somewhat goes hand-in-hand with the concept of community as students, faculty, staff, and coaches-all members of SBC's community-are working to bring out the best in each student and assisting her reach her potential.

Favorite Place on Campus: There are many wonderful places on campus, but if I must choose my favorite it would be Monument Hill. Monument Hill has a beautiful view of campus and it is where we walk to as a College after our Founders' Day Ceremony. The ceremony is a link between the great past that Sweet Briar has to the amazing future available. Plus, Monument Hill is the perfect spot for picnics!

What I Like to Do in My Spare Time: In my spare time, I treasure time spent with my family and friends. I enjoy cooking, travel, reading and spending time outdoors.

A Few Words of Advice to Prospective Students: Please go visit the colleges you are considering for your college choice. Each college and university has a very distinctive personality, which can only be seen and felt during a campus visit. Choosing a college is literally choosing your home for the next four years. Take time to check out the food, hang out in the residence halls, observe classes and sports practices, and meet the people you will be interacting with throughout your college experience.
