STEP Grant

The Science, Technology, Engineering Program (STEP) Grant has been designed to encourage and support students with an academic interest in engineering. If you have an academic interest in engineering, we invite you to apply for this scholarship.

The scholarship is valued at up to $5,000 per year for each of your four years at Sweet Briar College (up to $20,000 total over your four years). This scholarship can be added on top of other merit scholarships awarded by Sweet Briar College.

Students do need to apply for admission to Sweet Briar College and complete the STEP Grant scholarship application form by February 1 (or May 1 for transfer students). Applicants for the STEP Grant must also submit an essay describing your interest in engineering (approx. 500 words), and a letter of recommendation from a science or math teacher who has taught you in your junior or senior year of high school (or your first year of college).
